Buzz Works
Buzz Works is a sports bar in San Francisco. This multifaceted project involved a tap system made of schedule ten pipe with decorative gauges and valve wheels mounted on back bar of ⅜” plate steel. As you enter you see the custom railings with clear epoxy top drink shelves made of bike frames surrounding the second floor. The center piece is the section of handrail with the name of the bar constructed out of copper pipe with saw blades as the background. The stairs to the second floor are skinned in diamond plate. Around the walls of the second floor there are wall mounted drink shelves with clear epoxy tops to match the aesthetic of the handrails.
Butter Parklet
This parklet was designed to give this iconic San Francisco watering hole outside seating and to make it seem as if it has always been part of the bar. The white picket fence and yellow planter boxes blend seamlessly into the design of the building. The parklet looks like a small front yard with astroturf benches and picnic tables.
The Double Standard
The owner of The Double Standard approached us wanting to give the front of his bar a new look. He had a logo design and rough idea of what he had in mind. He had seen our work before and was looking for a similar aesthetic. He needed a sign and something to make this bar facade stand out. He handed us complete creative freedom with the design and loved what we came up with. The final design included a tetris-like geometric facade skin of metal, a sign, some tables, and the seating around a redwood tree in the backyard..
Bookcase and Bar
This residential project involved the design and fabrication of a custom bookcase and bar, made to the clients specifications. The Bookcase and entertainment center stands 14’ tall and 22’ wide and is constructed of square steel tube with stained finish grade plywood shelves. It has red oak doors with soft close hinges and decorative perforated aluminum sheets instead of glass. It was built in eight sections and wraps around a structural column.
The bar is on wheels and constructed of square steel tube frame with stained finish grade plywood inset in the frame to match the bookcase. It also has red oak doors with soft close hinges and decorative perforated aluminum sheets instead of glass continuing the design aesthetic of the bookcase. The top is made of two raw edge slabs, one of hickory and one of cedar. They have been stained and coated in epoxy.
Woven Steel Driveway Gate
This driveway gate was designed to have a unique look. Inside its steel frame it has steel strips that overlap giving it the appearance of a woven basket. Due to the weight of the doors it has a removable cross bar to keep the doors from sagging. With the use of heavy duty pintle hinge the doors open with the push of a finger.
Barn Wood Gas Fireplace
The Client approached us with some siding they had reclaimed from an old barn that had been torn down with an idea to use it in a project for their Italian restaurant. They were planning to install a gas fireplace in the bar dining area and wanted a unique look. After creative imagining with the client, we came up with the design you see.
Antique Poker Table Restoration
This poker table had been in the client’s family for years and holds great sentimental value. It had been chewed by the family dog and the base was broken in half during a move. We were able to put it back together and cover the dog damage with metal covers for the feet. We added a shelf and used a metallic copper paint that would react with a patina solution to match the bronze hardware..
Staircase Handrail
This handrail was designed by an architect and built by us. Each baluster had to be cut at the proper angle and length because the stair treads were all slightly different heights. It made the project challenging, but the end resulted in very happy customer.
The Grand
The Grand was a high-end nightclub in San Francisco. The building had changed hands several times, and the new owners wanted a fresh look. They approached us with a request to make the building pop! After refining their original design we ended up skinning the front of the two-story building in laser cut steel plates painted gold with a backlit sign.
